After Round 1 is a free mobile web game based on a counting game played by children all over Nigeria. It was built by one Nigerian developer who grew up playing it at break time and wanted friends, cousins and classmates scattered around the world to be able to play it together again.
What makes it ours
The song, the “gbede ooh” drop, the slap at the end, the market, the danfo, the owambe: everything in the game comes from everyday Nigerian life. The hands players collect are inspired by crafts from different parts of the country, from Adire indigo in Abeokuta and Akwete weaving in Abia to Nok terracotta and Benin bronze. Story Mode is an original tale of gods who come down to hold a counting tournament; its gods are invented characters, not deities of any living religion.
Fair by design
Every round is decided by our server, not by anyone's phone. Computer opponents play by exactly the same rules, with random hands that never look at yours. The leaderboard counts Round Points, which can only be earned by playing. Characters and hands change how you look and give small bonuses in the slap duel and the daily rewards; they never change who wins a round.
Free to play
The game is free. It is supported by optional Game Coin packs and by ads on a few pages (never during a match). You can read exactly what we collect and how ads work in our privacy policy.
